Mine lives in a pot in the garden and originally came as a dinky potted tree from La Foir Fouille, but it didn't have many roots. It hasn't grown a lot since then and is a bit anaemic looking as I forget to feed it but it's about 3 foot high and just about the right size and looks pretty when its tattiness is covered in bling and lights! I only bother with having a Xmas tree for just us 2 cos I feel sorry for the poor manky tree living in a pot!

When my sons were young we always had a real tree - a huge one as we had a large room in which to put it. Then we moved to a smaller house but to start with we had a real tree each year. I also had inherited a very tatty carpet with the smaller house which was fine cos we had an elderly incontinent cat at that time. After my lovely cat left us (in body but not in spirit) I had new carpets fitted and learned the delights of a non cat smelly and non pine needly home. So, I bought a quite pretty imitation tree that we have used ever since - thankfully it is not complicated to put together! I do make an effort for just the two of us cos I love Christmas, even tho we both know what will be in the packages arriving soon for each other, from each other from Amazon

Not putting mine up till December 17th,am off to UK for visiting and shopping, meanwhile the kitchen ,utility and toilet floors are being tiled ( if Leroy Merlin get them in on time!!) sooo the house is like a bomb site with the contents of the kitchen spread round it.Thought putting the tree up now was an added complication!!

Tiled floors are great with crimbo tree needles except mine sometimes drops sticky stuff on the floor which I have to clean up with white spirit!

4stix put our tree up yesterday, he got fed up with the nagging, but I`ve lost me baubles ( still in elfys barn ? ) so had to go out & buy some more. Today we are putting up the outside lights, probably very tacky but elfy has demanded it as her and mr elf are here for xmas and she loves all that stuff
