Ali I think the Calendula were already a goner from the frosts before the snow but the ice seems to have preserved the flowers so I thought it looked quite pretty though they are all hanging upside down! I'm quite pleased to have got some halfway decent photos with OH's SLR that I can only use on point and shoot - I'm getting a compact camera for crimbo which should do miles better macros than his but be easier to understand! (wippee) - I wanna do great close ups like yours! Your flowers look lovely too. And here's me

Lady S off shopping down west field, there is a big dip further down.... Don't be fooled by the fence posts to the far right they are on top of a 5 foot banking.

Sorry late in replying to you MM, but been out clearing snow. We are in the High Peak region of the Peak District National Park.
Here is a shot of part of the track now it is 'cleared', the gate in the previous picture is to the left.
