Ohhh Ali, what a terrible thing to have happened.... my heart goes out to them.... and to you... it must be difficult for you too .. being so far away and everything.
I don't know you, really, and certainly don't know the people you have spoken about here, but I my feelings of sadness are sincere, and hope that he recovers well and quickly, and that they find a way of coping once he is home again.

Sorry about your friend Ali, what a dreadful thing to happen and I hope he will be OK. Spare a thought for Sandra (Double Cream here) who is back in hospital after her gastric bypass went all wrong. Still awaiting more news but there is a thread about it on Grumpy Gits which is being updated by her daughter.

My thoughts are also with your friend Neil and his family, Ali - what a traumatic, life changing, and personally challenging accident. Puts my moans about the fact that I can't use my right shoulder temporarily into perspective.
I hope you don't think I'm being insensitive if I say that many people do manage to rise to this sort of challenge (I have a friend who lost both legs below the knees) and resume productive and creative lives, often with a renewed vigour after coming so close to losing everything.
Here's hoping your friend will do the same.

Yes, doubelcream is certainly going through the mill, I've been checking each day on progress too.
It does bring things into perspective quite a bit, tho I haven't seen Neal since my bros Birthday party a couple of years ago I've seen him grow up from a kid at school into a lovely bloke, we all went to the same primary and secondary. He's a builder and a strong chap with a great family around him. There's not a day that goes past that I don't think of him with this predicament.
We certainly don't know whats around the corner indeed!

Catwoman said something brilliant on chat box tonight (as usual) and I hope she doesn't mind me sharing her words here.
We were talking about getting older............
She said:
"its like being on an escalator - suddenly u realuse the peeps at the top have gone, and you are now at the top "

Best Quote I've read today is.... "The government today announced that it's changing its emblem to a condom because it more accurately reflects the government's political stance. A condom allows for inflation, halts production, destroys the next generation, protects a bunch of dicks, controls emissions and gives you a sense of security while you're being screwed."
It just doesn't get any more accurate than that!
