My brother sent me this. Ryan Giggs was quoted as saying that whilst he loves Manchester, he does miss Wales..................... ;D

We guessed it was him on sunday when the DMail online printed a silhouette of a premier division footballer caught up in this scandal thing and right next tothat headline was a story about Giggs and you could see the silhouette and his photo were exactly the same....reckon it was their way of letting folks realise who was in question

Why is this even in the news though? Footballer has affair - big deal. Don't see many headlines - "Journalist/Editor has affair". Because they don't - as someone who's been a journalist, I know that's true. Not. Affairs might be in the public interest if they involve clergy who are pontificating, politicians who rant on about "family values", and....I can't really think of anyone else.
Who is interested in this crap? Ryan Giggs, fit millionaire footballer, is attractive to women. Well, blow me down with a feather.
A few of you have posted on here. Anyone ever had an affair? I have but I wouldn't have liked it plastered all over the Screws of the World. It's not like he's a Jordan who has opened his life up to public scrutiny.
Fucking leave him alone.

It's news 'cos he tried to hide it, human nature always has a prurient interest in secrets.
If it had come out 'normally' then it would have just been a nine day wonder and disappear when the next tidbit caught the red tops attention. Then its just between him and his wife.
Agree, in general, with your basic comments.
ps IanH you have enough manchester contacts to know he does have a lot of form, so maybe this is why they press have pursued it so?
pps will there be a question on this in tonights quiz?

Yes and all I did was mention that the paper was giving clues away before the s**t actually hit the fan. I couldn't care less what people do, they've been at it for thousands of years and they'll still be at it when we are all long gone. Don't even really like football and know very little about this one anyway.

I'm a retired journalist and have serious concerns over how the press uses its freedom - the Daily Mail being a prime example.
You might argue that Ryan Giggs was fair game, however in Tuesday's Mail there was a piece about the death of Max Bygraves' wife after 69 years of marriage. The article opened by saying how devastated he was, and positively dripped pathos - then went on to relate how during the course of the marriage Max had fathered two children by other women.
All in the best possible taste, as the late Kenny Everett used to say.
There are a lot of alleged journalists in what used to be Fleet Street who would be all the better for a good hanging.
