Not you Bartyb the other BB, ArseyPhart, Thanks for that I'll bone up Brian that wasn't a very nice thing to say I think BB is quite right, the suite for Dreamweaver with everything you need costs £800. If you really are starting html and css (for eg) from scratch there are far cheaper, if not free, ways to learn before splashing out on a program that will seriously drown any beginner. Could you say sorry to BB? He was trying to help and I think thats how everyone else would read his comments too.

Well say that then. I didn't know. Thats why I asked the question. For intelligent answers not negative ones. I have some HTML and BB experience but minimal. I am prepared to learn. I have done some research and realised that these programs aren't free again the reason I asked. I am sorry for what ever I said that offended but please! Thankyou everyone for your help I have ordered the book Bartyb of Amazon.

Sorry about that but I answered on the understanding you were a numpty on these things...
If you are not then brilliant.
Dreamweaver is an incredibly complicated piece of software and not for a novice at all. It MAY be the industry standard but it will take you years to get the hang of.
It also costs £357.00 ex VAT if you want a legal copy.
BB
ps, after saying Dreamweaver was not for you I did suggest Squarespace
pps, the dreamweaver suite alison speaks of costs £1,429.00 ex VAT

OK BB received and thanks. Yes I did have an idea of the price for the Dreamweaver software as I said thats why I asked. It has been intimated elsewhere that you write simple HTML code in notebook and try it as a way of learning which I wanted to do, to learn. Anyway I have ordered the book as suggested by Bartyb lets see how I get on.

Been using DW for many years now, bought a copy of CS2 and tried it, it took me 2 days to just figure out the new layout... Continued using MX 2004. DW is good, but only when used in conjunction with a decen txt editor.. Still, all that is bhind me now thank the gods.. I just want to gut cattle and pigs in an abattoir, it's easier work

This thread is actually very good indeed, if one strips out the flouncing and 'signifying'. It has given lots of info on various routes to follow, from just creating a one off, through to the professional tools that would need a serious and dedicated learning curve. Having looked at website-creation-software-review.toptenreviews.com/ I was surprised not to see DreamWeaver, but reading the reviews, the products compared here are accessible, not just price-wise but learning-wise too.
