I turned over and saw it but thought, that's not the One Show sofa and then somehow found myself watching the programme about them afterwards as well ..... aaarrrggghhh I've really had enough now!!! Feel sorry for her having to put up with Diana's old ring from her disaster of a marriage.

Perhaps the ring is a cost cutting measure?! After all we are the ones who would be paying for a new one!

Wonderful news, and perfect timing, do you think the govt suggested it would be a good idea (timing wise!!!!!!) ?? I did laugh at Charles's comment....... "They have had plenty of practise" or words to that effect ROFL ;D

I must admit I watched the interview too & think that with William (& Harry) the Royals have finally thrown off their old-fashioned, stuffy image.
He seems refreshingly normal (for a Royal!) & thought it was nice how he helped out Kate when she seemed to get a bit stuck for words. Also nice to hear him using phrases like 'hang-out' and best of all he doesn't say 'one' when talking about himself.
Can't see what's wrong in using his mums ring too, instead of splashing out on a new one. It's only a ring after all, (albeit a very expensive one!) not cursed & it's nice when things get handed down through the generations....

But it's not an expensive one, it was only about £28,000. OK yes I know that's rather a lot for us mere mortals, but very cheap compared to the rich celeb types' engagement rings. It's just like my own engagement ring, except the sapphire is a tad bigger. :-) The diamonds don't even look bigger than mine and mine was only £450 from Hatton Garden only 18 ish years ago!

My son and his bit of fluff are getting hitched next June. I gave him my mother's diamond ring to get engaged with. I think it is fairly normal to used heirlooms like this. No way can youngsters afford new ones these days.

It is a beautiful ring and reminds them of Diana so I approve. However they do have bank accounts so I fail to understand how the British taxpayer would be paying for a new bague!
